S7 doesn't have a camera, does have all the smarts except poo avoidance (Don't have pets, so doesn't matter). Tipping point for me was that Neato reviews mentioned and showed that they don't fully drive into the corners, making the D shape useless. But Neato at least has a solid privacy policy, doesn't film you and doesn't sell the fact you just tossed out your couch to Ikea.ĮDIT: That said: In the end, I got a RoboRock S7. If you want sources, let me know, I have too many robovac tabs open right now.
One of the things to keep in mind with Roborock is the fact that Xiaomi, the parent company, will have people reviewing the data the robot gathers (some have cameras), selling floorplan data to third parties, requests ALL the permissions in the app and has been shown to have security vulnerabilities in it's smarthome network. I still love the Neato brand and hope they can turn it around but would not recommend someone buy them now. Vacuum but the S4 Max we got is a better robot and for the price we paid can’t be beat.
NEATO D9 CODE
I'd rather not buy something from iRobot as based on my experiences with my Braava Jet M6-which is supposed to run the same navigation code as the vacuums-found that SLAM really sucks when used in a space where things get moved around a lot. Since I'm just in an apartment, the new D8 seems to be everything I'd want, but as it seems like Neato has somewhat gone to shit as a company I'd be pissed if, as the lowest-numbered model of this upcoming generation, I got one only to find out it lacked features or performed worse than my Botvac 75. When I bought that, the only difference between models were the included accessories and the LIDAR cover, however I bought family a D3 a few years ago and noticed they've started leaving out certain features-hardware and software-on the lower end models of the newer generations.
Each vacuum sports the signature Neato D-shape design, wide roller brushes, and LaserSmart navigation. The Neato D8, D9, and D10 will sport different prices and abilities and will launch sometime this Fall. My old Botvac 75 is still chugging along, however vacuum performance has somewhat gone down after I recently threw the bin in the dishwasher and forgot to turn heated dry off like I normally would, resulting in it warping, which ruined the seal between the bin and the body. Neatos IFA 2020 announcements include three new premium-grade robot vacuums.
NEATO D9 SOFTWARE
Has anyone seen anything about what's different between the D8, D9, & D10 in terms of hardware and software features? All the original press releases from last year only mention differences in battery life.
